fresh.
its always interesting to read posts right on the new years. everyone reminiscing about the past year, and then setting goals for themselves for the upcoming year. i think i like seeing the pictures with captions the best. however, the part thats well worth reading, is the goals. i enjoy seeing people listing out goals that they want to accomplish.
i like how the new year always rings with new beginnings. it sounds so fresh. almost like a clean slate. its odd that when i think of new beginnings, i think of a child learning his/her lesson. or more like myself learning lessons that were taught to me througout the year. with each new year, comes a new age. you're older. more wiser. seen more of the world.
sometimes i wonder how people can set the same goals for themselves year after year, only to be found in the same place time after time. its because we're human.
i sometimes, when it comes to a few goals, find myself the same as the aforementioned. there are of course the usual goals. study harder, take iniative at friendships more, work out more, eat less, etc. the list continues to spiral down into a never ending pile of lists. sometimes it seems that people forget that to work at goals you cannot do it on your own. i have taken a genuine liking to carrie underwood's recent song 'Jesus take the wheel.' there's such a genuine plea in that song that i find myself relating to it. knowing and understanding that i am not in charge. i cannot do anything on my own.
so ringing in the new year, i propose a goal to myself. a short list.
1. following God whole heartedly, and accepting what is, and what is not.
ha, its a tough goal. one that will certainly be challenging. however, im sure that it'll keep me humble in all ways. i really liked what pastor ed said today about how nothing is coincidental. if i remember that, following number one on my list will definitely help.
this will be a whirlwind of a year, but when i let Jesus take the wheel, i know that i'll be in for a whirlwind of lessons waiting to be taught and learned, but that i won't be alone.
Happy New Year!
